Methuen seeks public input on new superintendent
The Methuen School Committee is inviting residents, parents, students and staff to share input on the district's next superintendent, starting with a town hall Oct. 21 at Methuen High School.
The Methuen School Committee announced Oct. 19 that it is inviting residents, parents, guardians, students and staff to take part in the search for the district's next superintendent.
The committee hired Zeal Education Group to lead the search. The firm will host a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Methuen High School cafeteria to gather input on the strengths of the district, the challenges facing Methuen Public Schools, and the qualities residents want in the next superintendent.
School Committee members will not attend the town hall, a choice meant to encourage open and candid discussion. Zeal Education Group will later share a summary of the feedback with the School Committee to help guide the search.
Zeal representatives will also be available at Methuen's elementary schools during parent-teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 22 and 23, to collect additional input from families.
The School Committee described selecting a superintendent as one of its most important responsibilities and said community participation is an important part of the process. All Methuen residents are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives.
