Methuen High hosts annual college and careers fair

Methuen Public Schools announced that Methuen High School has again held its annual College and Careers Fair for students in Grade 12. The event, held for more than 10 years, gave seniors a chance to interact with more than 55 colleges, businesses, military organizations, technical schools and certification programs.

During the fair, Grade 12 students were able to network and learn about local colleges and schools to help plan the next step after graduation. The event also showed students how their current coursework connects to future careers; for example, a student interested in plumbing could see how geometry and physics classes at Methuen High School prepare them for that path.

Throughout the school year, representatives from local colleges, unions and military organizations also visit the school Monday through Thursday during lunch periods to continue talking with students.

The high school's counseling department has two field trips planned for students in the Early College Program to visit the University of Massachusetts Lowell, one on Oct. 26 and a second to be scheduled for spring 2027. The school will also hold a community college vocational fair in the spring.

Methuen School Counseling Department Chair Martha Tatro said in the release, “At Methuen Public Schools, we firmly believe in opportunities for all students, and by having our students participate in these programs and events, we are able to have more in-depth conversations and connect students with the right resources to further their education during their time in Methuen and after graduation.”
