METHUEN — Zoning Board approves home-addition variance, defers mixed-use application. The Board voted unanimously to grant application 2026-06 for Maximiliano Rizzo, permitting a 10.25-by-25.67-foot addition at 595 Prospect Street to be set back 8.9 feet instead of the required 15 feet, designed to provide accessibility for his autistic son and elderly mother-in-law. In a separate matter, the Board voted unanimously to continue Dana Kilroy's mixed-use request to April 22, 2026, after Attorney Arthur Broadhurst acknowledged the applicant's preliminary plans lacked detail on bedroom count, parking, and kitchen placement.
Building Inspector Gene Walsh emphasized that City zoning requires mixed-use occupancy in the BH district, as straight residential use is not permitted.
