Recreation Committee approves spring park initiatives, addresses field access concerns.

METHUEN — Recreation Committee hears report on $20,000 in Rail Trail improvements and field conditions. Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Stephen Angelo reported 600 children registered for spring and summer programs with a new cooking class added, Forest Lake bathrooms expected ready for summer, and an outdoor fitness court in competitive bidding. The President of the Methuen Rail Trail raised overhangs requiring repair at the Rail Trail Depot and requested the trail be listed as a city park on the website.
A coach flagged snow blocking Tenney Field and cited bathroom and water access issues at fields; the Superintendent confirmed water activation timing is weather dependent and the Subcommittee discussed portable restroom options.
