The City of Methuen has opened preregistration for the new curbside composting service in partnership with Black Earth Compost, according to a city announcement. Officials framed the program as an easy option for residents looking to reduce household waste and support environmental protection efforts.
Separately, Captain Jamie Moore is now settling into his role as acting police chief, a transition that took effect Aug. 24 when Chief Scott J. McNamara retired following Mayor D.J. Beauregard's earlier appointment of Moore to the post.

Methuen Public Schools is finalizing preparations for the new academic year at Methuen High School, with staff reporting for duty Sept. 1 and students returning to classrooms Sept. 2, according to the district's master calendar.
