Methuen Opens Preregistration for Curbside Composting Program

The City of Methuen has opened signups for a new curbside composting program with Black Earth Compost, giving residents a straightforward way to cut down on household trash. The rollout comes as the city also confirmed that vote-by-mail applications for the 2026 State Primary and State Election are now arriving in local mailboxes.

TOWN HALL

Methuen has opened preregistration for its new curbside composting program, run in partnership with Black Earth Compost. City officials say the service offers residents an easy option for diverting food and yard waste from the regular trash stream, part of a broader push to reduce what the city sends to disposal.

Separately, vote-by-mail applications for the 2026 State Primary and State Election are showing up in Methuen mailboxes this week. Eligible voters can request a ballot for one or both elections using the postage-paid application, an option that runs alongside in-person early voting scheduled to begin Aug. 22 at Sanborn Hall.
