Methuen Locks In Electric Rate Through 2027 Despite National Grid Hike

METHUEN — Methuen households will be spared National Grid's latest Basic Service rate increase after the city confirmed its municipal electric supply rate stays locked through December 2027, even as the utility's standard rate climbs again.

TOWN HALL City officials announced that Methuen's electric supply agreement keeps rates frozen through the end of 2027, shielding residents from National Grid's newest Basic Service increase and continuing a run of savings on monthly bills for households enrolled in the city's program.

Separately, in-person early voting for the 2026 State Primary wraps up today at Sanborn Hall, closing out the week-long window that opened August 22 ahead of the fall election.
