Methuen Locks Electric Supply Rate Through December 2027

METHUEN — Methuen's municipal electricity aggregation program will keep its supply rate locked through December 2027, even as National Grid raises its Basic Service rate again, the city announced this week.

The City of Methuen confirmed that residents enrolled in the city's electricity aggregation program are shielded from National Grid's latest Basic Service rate increase, with the locked-in municipal supply rate holding steady through December 2027. City officials framed the extension as continued protection for ratepayers as regional electricity costs climb.

Methuen's police department also remains in a leadership transition already underway: Capt. Jamie Moore is set to become acting chief on August 24, 2026, when Chief Scott McNamara's retirement takes effect, per the mayor's office.
