Methuen Early Voting Opens Aug. 22 at Sanborn Hall
Registered Methuen voters can begin casting ballots in person for the 2026 State Primary on Monday, Aug. 22, with early voting running through Aug. 28 at Sanborn Hall, the city announced, giving residents a full week to vote ahead of the primary.

The city is opening Sanborn Hall for a week of early, in-person voting starting Aug. 22 and running through Aug. 28, part of the run-up to the 2026 State Primary. Voters who prefer to cast a ballot by mail still have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 25 to apply for one, a deadline the city has been reminding residents about as vote-by-mail applications continue arriving in mailboxes.
Separately, the Historic District Commission has canceled its Thursday, Aug. 27, meeting because no new applications were filed for review, the city said in a notice posted Tuesday.
SCHOOLS
Methuen Public Schools is turning toward the new academic year. Methuen High School has scheduled new-teacher orientation for Aug. 25 and 26, followed by the first day for all staff on Sept. 1 and the first day for students districtwide on Sept. 2, according to the district's master calendar.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Jr. Celtics Academy is running a summer basketball camp for local youth this week, Monday through Friday, Aug. 17-21, at Phillips Academy in neighboring Andover, per the city's community events calendar. Closer to home, the Circle of Hope Family Support Group is scheduled to meet Monday, Aug. 24, offering residents a peer-support gathering listed on the city's community calendar.
COMING UP
The Methuen Retirement Board and the Conservation Commission both meet Thursday, Aug. 20. The Zoning Board of Appeals holds its regular meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26. Early in-person voting for the State Primary runs Aug. 22 through Aug. 28 at Sanborn Hall, and Methuen High School's new-teacher orientation continues Aug. 25 and 26 ahead of the September school opening.
