Community Development Board · Meeting of January 14, 2026
Methuen Community Development Board tables proposed 122-room hotel project pending design review. The board unanimously deferred a special permit decision on Park Silver Development's Wood Spring Suites hotel at 143 Pleasant Valley Street, citing the need for fire-truck turning-radius verification and pedestrian-access clarification. Board Secretary Neal Hunter questioned sidewalk provisions to nearby retail and dining, and noted the traffic study did not account for increased Old Ferry Road traffic.
Director of Planning Kathleen Colwell stated peer-review engineers flagged several items requiring applicant response; the board directed coordination with Public Works on street improvement planning for Pleasant Valley Street. The applicant, represented by Attorney Anthony Copani, presented market research demonstrating strong occupancy potential based on proximity to Interstate 495.
