City Council · Meeting of April 6, 2026
Methuen City Council approves Oakland Avenue School Trust purchase at $2.68 million. The Trust will pay $200,000 down with the remainder financed through the city at 6 percent interest, with the property restricted to educational use; amendments require CAFO financial review before closing and preserve public access to the playground and baseball field. In separate action, the council tabled an emergency resolution to evaluate Group Insurance Commission coverage for employees after union representatives objected during public comment that the proposal bypassed collective bargaining consultation.
The council also proclaimed Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in memory of Austin Michael Willette, who was killed by a distracted driver in 2023.
