Captain Jamie Moore Named Acting Methuen Police Chief

METHUEN — Mayor D.J. Beauregard has appointed Captain James "Jamie" Moore as acting chief of the Methuen Police Department, filling the role left vacant by the retirement of Chief Scott J. McNamara.

Mayor Beauregard announced Friday that Captain Moore will take over as acting police chief effective upon McNamara's retirement, which took effect August 24, 2026. The appointment keeps the department under continuous leadership as the city begins a search for a permanent successor.

The city is also promoting an upcoming Overdose Awareness Day programming block on local cable, with a live TV program scheduled for Monday, August 31.
