Methuen development board approved 122-room extended-stay hotel on Pleasant Valley Street with conditions. The Community Development Board voted unanimously to grant the special permit and site plan approval for the WoodSpring Suites project, requiring completion of sidewalk and crosswalk improvements before occupancy and submission of detailed plans within 90 days. Resident Mark Dewald raised concerns about traffic impacts and municipal service demands; traffic consultants concluded the hotel would generate approximately 500 daily vehicle trips with most occurring during commute hours and no measurable impact on surrounding neighborhoods.
The board also endorsed housing and commercial plan approvals and tabled the 11 Cross Street residential hearing to April 8.
