Beauregard Names Jamie Moore Acting Police Chief

METHUEN — Mayor D.J. Beauregard announced Wednesday the appointment of Captain James "Jamie" Moore as acting chief of the Methuen Police Department, effective upon the retirement of Chief Scott J. McNamara on August 24.

TOWN HALL

Moore, currently a captain in the department, will take over department leadership when McNamara steps down later this month, according to the mayor's office. The announcement sets up the city's first police leadership transition in years and comes as City Hall continues to field questions on unrelated fronts, including the locked-in municipal electric supply rate through December 2027, a story the city's News Flash has covered in recent days.

COMING UP

Several city boards meet in the week ahead. The Conservation Commission meets Thursday, August 6, the same day a scheduled Commission on Disability meeting has been canceled. The Cultural Council meets Monday, August 10, followed by the Licensing Board and the Community Development Board, both meeting Wednesday, August 12.
