Beauregard Names Capt. Jamie Moore Acting Police Chief

METHUEN — Mayor D.J. Beauregard on Friday named Captain James "Jamie" Moore acting chief of the Methuen Police Department, positioning him to take over when Chief Scott J. McNamara retires next month.

TOWN HALL

The leadership change is the day's biggest municipal news. Moore's appointment as acting chief takes effect upon McNamara's retirement on August 24, 2026, according to the mayor's office. The city has not yet announced a timeline for a permanent chief search.

Separately, the city has scheduled a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Community Involvement Meeting for July 29 to update residents on how the federal grant program is being used in Methuen.

COMING UP

The CDBG Community Involvement Meeting is set for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, giving residents a chance to hear updates on the city's Community Development Block Grant programs.
