Beauregard Names Acting Police Chief Ahead of McNamara's Retirement
METHUEN — Mayor D.J. Beauregard appointed Captain James "Jamie" Moore as acting chief of the Methuen Police Department on Tuesday, with the change taking effect when Chief Scott J. McNamara retires on August 24.

Beauregard's office announced the appointment in a statement posted to the city's News Flash service, saying Moore will step into the department's top post once McNamara's retirement becomes official later this month. The mayor's office did not announce a timeline for naming a permanent successor.

Methuen's Community Development Board is scheduled to meet Wednesday, August 12, the same evening the Licensing Board's regular meeting has been canceled, according to the city calendar. The City Council will hold a special meeting via Zoom conference on Thursday, August 13.
